Persons with Disabilities in DPRK Enjoy Happy Life
Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

In the DPRK, persons with disabilities are enjoying a happy life under the popular policies of the socialist system legally guaranteeing their rights and interests.

The Law of the DPRK on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities was adopted on June 18, 2003 and amended and supplemented in more detail in November 2013, providing a legal guarantee for further developing the protection of persons with disabilities under the care of the whole society.

The Law of the DPRK on Ensuring the Rights of the Disabled was adopted in September last year.

Schools for persons with hearing and eyesight disorder are being operated across the country and the persons with disabilities are learning to their heart's content, enjoying the benefits of the universal 12-year compulsory education.

The persons with disabilities are attaining their desire and giving full play to their talents after joining the Korean Art Association of the Disabled and the Korean Sports Association of the Disabled.

This year, too, the art group members of the Korean Art Association of the Disabled impressively represented their worthwhile and happy life under the policy of the Party and the state on protecting the disabled at theatres in Pyongyang and local areas.

The participants in the 2024 sports contest of disabled persons and amateurs fully showed their optimistic appearance and sports skills they have cultivated in the days of conducting mass sports activities.

The DPRK set June 18 as the National Day of Persons with Disabilities and also marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
