On March 14, 1952, when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height, President Kim Il Sung gave an instruction on launching a tree-planting movement involving all the masses, feeling painful about the fact that many forests were burned by the barbarous bombing of the U.S. imperialists.

The tree-planting has been dynamically conducted in the country as an important project for national prosperity and development and happiness of the people under the guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

The General Secretary authored such famous works as "Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country with Green Woods" to clarify the principled issues arising in tree-planting and afforestation. Personally planting trees with officials, service personnel and schoolchildren, he indicated the tasks and ways for covering the whole country with trees and flowers.

His noble patriotic world can be felt in the two fir trees planted on Hwasong Hill, the new name of "Kumya black pine" and such trees of good species as Sangwon poplar growing across the country.

Modern tree nurseries were built in different parts of the country to expand the sapling production capacity, and a brisk tree-planting campaign has been conducted through a mass movement to create a large area of forests.

Meanwhile, steps have been taken in a farsighted way to prevent landslides, forest fires and damage by blight and insects and thus protect the precious forests.

All the mountains of the country turning into gold and treasure mountains convey the noble patriotic intention of the peerlessly great men.
