Forest Restoration and Land Management Reviewed in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- A meeting for reviewing the forest restoration and the general mobilization for land management in 2024 took place via video conferencing at the DPRK Cabinet on Wednesday.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the C.C., WPK, other senior Party and government officials and officials of the Cabinet, commissions, ministries, national agencies, armed forces organs, provincial, city and county party and power organs and relevant sectors.

The participants watched videos on last year's work for forest restoration and general mobilization for land management.

A video on forest restoration dealt with the fact that modern tree nurseries have been built in provinces, cities and counties, more than one million hectares of forests, including hundreds of thousands of hectares of forests with wild fruit, created and forest scientific research bases successfully built in different parts of the country over the past decade under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

A video on general mobilization for land management dealt with the successful completion of the anti-land-sliding and road improvement project for the Bobachi Pass located in the suburbs of Hyesan City by the Cabinet, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the 216 Division and Ryanggang Province, which removed the traces of damage and improved the appearance of border areas. It also showed a vigorous drive conducted across the country to improve rivers and streams, repair houses and public buildings, remodel parks and recreation grounds, and plant trees and turfs.

It dealt with the fact that the working people's organizations heightened the atmosphere of general mobilization for land management in combination with various mass movements, and that the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Ministry of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, the Ministry of Metal Industry, the Ministry of Chemical Industry, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Finance and other relevant units provided equipment and materials necessary for land development and management in a responsible manner.

On the same day, there was a meeting for reviewing the 2024 work for increasing the railway intensity.

The successes made in replacing all existing sleepers with concrete ones, efforts for improving the stability of railways and improving the appearance of their surroundings reminded again the participants of the importance of railway work.

The meetings referred to the deviations revealed in last year's work.

They called upon all officials to bring about improvement in afforestation, land management, ecological environment protection and railway modernization with a fresh determination, and stressed the need to make full nationwide preparations for countering disastrous danger.
