Present there were Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the Agricultural Commission, and officials of the Agricultural Commission and provincial rural economy committees.

The meeting first gave a comprehensive explanation of the problems arising in transplanting nutritive cold-bed rice seedlings and cultivating and tending dry-field crops as required by the Juche farming methods.

It heard methods for setting the right time properly as the nutritive cold-bed rice seedlings have been introduced in a broader scale throughout the country this year, increasing the area of transplanting done by machines and finishing the rice-transplanting in the main areas by the end of May.

It also dealt with the issue of growing healthy rice seedlings through proper management of temperature and humidity at greenhouses for raising rice seedlings, the issue of giving precedence to tilling and harrowing paddy fields and scientifically ensuring the number of plants per phyong and the issue of taking scientific measures for applying fertilizer, managing water in paddy fields, weeding and exterminating harmful insects in conformity with the characteristics of soil and growth of paddy rice.

It stressed the need to increase the number of spikelets per ear and thousand-kernel weight in manuring and cultivating wheat and barley and meet the technical requirements for maize and soybean farming. It also underlined the need to improve the effectiveness of chemical fertilizers and introduce efficient irrigation methods to minimize drought damage.

There were also shows on securing grain dryers and packaging containers, manuring nutritive solution with drones in wheat and barley fields and judging the crop estimate.
