Present at the symposium were officials and scientists in the fields of land and environment protection and urban management and relevant fields.

The participants watched a video on river improvement and ecological environment.

Speakers referred to the successes made in the work to improve all the rivers to thoroughly prevent damage caused by floods and preserve the natural scenery in hearty response to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on land management and its Juche-oriented idea on aesthetics.

They called for eliminating the danger of flood damage, fully meeting the demand for water in different sectors of the national economy and effectively pushing ahead with the work to create a model in relevant areas on the basis of experience gained in drawing up and implementing the river management plan of the Pothong River on the principle of improving ecosystems.

They explained the ways for preventing the pollution of rivers and improving the water quality by actively introducing effective techniques and methods suited to natural and geographical conditions.
