Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- On January 27, Juche 61 (1972) General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to "Yangsando", a dance created by the Mansudae Art Troupe. After watching the dance performed with parasol, pronounced yangsan in Korean, as property he said "Yangsando" was a folk song of Korea with nothing to do with parasol. With the choreographer feeling ashamed of himself, Kim Jong Il told him that it would be better to replace parasol with janggo (hourglass drum). Inspired by his suggestion, the choreographer said with conviction that he would renew the dance with janggo. Later, "Yangsando" was recreated as a janggo dance of the Korean style, one of the models in the Juche-oriented dancing art, winning popularity among audience. |
