Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- On September 1, Juche 49 (1960) General Secretary Kim Jong Il began studying at Kim Il Sung University. That day, he climbed Ryongnam Hill on the campus and recited a poem "Korea, I Will Glorify Thee" reflecting his will to add luster to Korea, true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung. Since then, all his revolutionary activities have been oriented towards a grand goal of demonstrating the dignity and honor of the nation all over the world by turning the country into an invincible one. He, with ceaseless thinking and pursuit and energetic ideological and theoretical activities, newly expounded the position and role of the leader in the revolutionary struggle and proved the originality of the President's revolutionary ideas. He also consolidated the ideological and theoretical foundation of Songun politics by systematizing and enriching the Juche-oriented military ideas, theories and tactics. Under his energetic leadership, the unity of the Party has been cemented and the historical cause for modeling the whole society on the Juche idea commenced. And the People's Army has become infinitely faithful to the leader and the Party. His determination to keep the pledge he made on Ryongnam Hill with Songun politics was strikingly manifested in the period of the Arduous March, the forced march. With a clear understanding of the changed situation and the requirement of the revolution, he has put forward the army as the pivot and main force of revolution and continued the Songun revolutionary leadership, smashing the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the country and bringing about tremendous achievements in all fields, including grand monumental edifices built throughout the country. |
