Life Shining with Patriotic Spirit

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- September 2 is the 55th death anniversary of Kim Po Hyon, an ardent patriot and grandfather of President Kim Il Sung. He devoted his all to the country and nation with a strong sense of patriotism and hard-working spirit. He encouraged his descendants to take part in the revolution and did his best to help them in their activities without the slightest vacillation in the teeth of the Japanese imperialists' suppression. When he heard the news that his son Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary, was arrested again by the Japanese police, he inspirited his grandson Kim Il Sung, who was studying at Changdok School, to carry forward the family's tradition of patriotism and his father's intention. His patriotic mind was never changed even after Kim Hyong Jik and Kang Pan Sok, his daughter in law and an outstanding leader of the movement for the emancipation of the Korean women, passed away and another son Kim Hyong Gwon was arrested by the enemy during anti-Japanese armed group activities at home and tortured to death in prison. When a few renegades of the revolution visited him in his house in Mangyongdae in a bid to influence him with money and get some information on Kim Il Sung, who launched a bloody war against the Japanese imperialists, he categorically rejected their offer. After the liberation of the country, he lived a frugal life as a peasant until his closing days though his grandson was the chief executive of the country. |
