Significant Days of DPRK Observed

Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- A meeting and a book and photo exhibition took place in Britain, an opening ceremony of a book, photo and handicraft exhibition and a film show in Russia and film shows in Trinidad and Tobago and Libya from October 8 to 20 to congratulate General Secretary Kim Jong Il on his reelection as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, the 65th birthday of the WPK and the 84th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union.

On display in the venues were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos on their immortal leadership exploits on party building, books and photos introducing Songun Korea and handicrafts associated with the creative talents of the Korean people.

The participants in the film shows watched Korean films including "The Arch of Triumph".

Speeches were made at the functions.

Praising the 65 years of victory and glory covered by the Workers' Party of Korea, speakers including the chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea stressed that the immortal exploits performed by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in building a Juche-oriented party would shine long along with human history.

The chairman of the Russian Association for Development of Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries said that the hostile forces tried hard to prevent the Korean people from waging unflinching struggle but fireworks of congratulation, fireworks of victory, were displayed in the DPRK, instilling confidence and courage into the progressive people. These signal events are results of the far-sighted wisdom and tested and seasoned leadership of Kim Jong Il, he added.
