Meeting Marks Anniversary of Torchlight Lit for Model Machine Movement
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- A national meeting to mark the 50th anniversary of the torchlight lit by General Secretary Kim Jong Il for the model machine movement was held at the People's Palace of Culture Thursday.

Present there were Choe Yong Rim, Yang Hyong Sop and others, officials of working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions, industrial establishments and farms and model lathe operators.

Jo Pyong Ju, vice-premier of the Cabinet and minister of Machine-building Industry, said in his report that in spring of Juche 50 (1961) Kim Jong Il went to the Pyongyang Textile Machine Factory and set a shining example in the management of equipment while personally operating Lathe No. 26.

The Lathe No. 26 model machine movement initiated by Kim Jong Il sparked off a dynamic movement for mass technical innovations as it was aimed to encourage broad masses to prize and manage machines and lift the level of technological equipment, the reporter said, and went on:

This movement has demonstrated its great vitality over the past 50 years under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The movement resulted in the workers and other working people's full play to the traits of defending and glorifying the leadership feats of the WPK, patriotism, collectivism and the traits of loving and valuing their lathes, working sites and native places and carefully managing and sprucing them up.

The reporter called upon all the workers and other working people to conduct a more dynamic Lathe No. 26 model machine movement.
