Japan's "Three Principles of Arms Export" No More Than Scrap of Paper: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government amended the "Three Principles of Arms Export" late in December last year and decided to jointly develop defense equipment with other countries and transfer them overseas. Much upset by strong rebuff of opposition parties, the present government of the Democratic Party of Japan blustered it eased the above-said principles and it will not change the principle and idea of peace. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says in a bylined commentary in this regard: The radical revision made by the government of the three principles amounts to a total drop of the principles and this is, in essence, a manifestation of its intention to step up its moves to turn Japan into a military giant and launch overseas expansion in real earnest. The Japanese ruling quarters covered the arms export with the veils of peace and humanitarianism. This is aiming at hiding the criminal nature and danger of their wild ambition. Japan, hell-bent on the moves for converting itself into a military giant, is focusing its efforts on bolstering the striking power and mobile capability of the "Self-Defense Forces". Precisely for this reason its present "Defense Programme Guidelines" put main emphasis on shipbuilding and the replacement of prototype fighters and it is contemplating jointly developing arms and equipment with the U.S. Through its joint arms development with the U.S. Japan seeks to acquire latest technology of manufacturing weaponry and hold military supremacy in Asia. Japan's ultimate goal is to realize its wild ambition for reinvading Asia. Everything is subordinated to attaining the goal. Explicitly speaking, Japan has become a main danger to East Asia. It is quite natural for its neighboring countries to watch Japan with vigilance. |
