It is imperative for the improvement of relations between the north and the south of Korea to achieve national reconciliation and unity.

Different ideologies and social systems have existed in the north and the south of Korea, aggravating distrust and confrontation between the fellow countrymen, due to its division caused by foreign interference,.

Last year the DPRK called for improving relations between the two halves of Korea through dialogue and cooperation and opening the gate to peace and reunification.

But the south Korean authorities, giving lip-service to dialogue, have persistently sought confrontation and war to escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula.

They answered the DPRK's sincere proposal and efforts for dialogue with the absurd demand for a solution to the warship Cheonan and Yonphyong Island incidents and sincere measure for a solution to the nuclear issue.

They even hurt the supreme dignity of the DPRK and staged military exercises against the DPRK like "Key Resolve" and "Foal Eagle" in collusion with foreign forces.

National reconciliation and unity will never be achieved with one side seeking confrontation with the other side, adhering to its ideology and social system, indifferent to the interests of the nation.

The interests common to the nation should be put above anything else.

The DPRK remains unchanged in its principled stand to improve the inter-Korean relations through dialogue and solve the issue of reunification in a peaceful way by achieving national reconciliation and unity.
