Rural Communities Busy with Preparations for New Year's Farming

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) -- Preparations for farming are in full swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Trucks and tractors are busy carrying manure to fields throughout the country. Farmers have turned out in the effort for implementing the behests of leader Kim Jong Il for solving the food problem. The Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, Tongbong Cooperative Farm in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province, Samjigang Co-op Farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province and other farms have transported several hundred tons of manure to fields every day from the first day of the year. The cooperative farms in Thaechon County, North Phyongan Province, are working on producing phosphorite, calcined clay and organic fertilizers. Hoeyang County in Kangwon Province and Yonggwang County in South Hamgyong Province have carpeted scores of hectares of fields with humus soil over the past five days. Meanwhile, assistance to rural communities has been intensified. Officials of Pyongyang-based ministries and national institutions carried large quantities of quality manure to cooperative farms on January 6. Officials and workers of industrial establishments in South Hamgyong, South Phyongan and Jagang provinces have sent various kinds of farming tools and materials to farms. |
