Recently, the director of the Oceanography Research Institute of Iran said that the country will build an icebreaker and study technologies of iceberg traction, arctic clothes manufacture and ice boring for the purpose of scientific researches and transport.

The establishment of the base is to take six stages. The first stage is the organization of the Antarctic Research Center.
