Gloomy Prospect of Capitalist World in New Year
|

Pyongyang, January 17 (KCNA) -- Various kinds of crimes have taken place in capitalist countries in an unbroken chain at the outset of the new year as they happened last year, throwing people into great uneasiness and horror. According to VOA, as many as over 40 arsons had occurred in residential areas centering around Hollywood District in Los Angeles, California State from Dec. 29 last year to Jan. 1 this year. At a time when huge material losses were caused and horror-stricken atmosphere prevailed in the city due to ceaseless arsons four people were shot to death by an unidentified criminal on the outskirts of San Diego City, on Jan. 1. Horrible murder cases broke out in other capitalist countries including Japan and Britain before and after the New Year. The ever-deepening unemployment crisis is adding to the worries and sufferings of the toiling masses in the capitalist countries in the new year, too. The Boeing company on Jan. 4 announced its plan to fire 2 000 employees under the pretext of worsening business. On Jan. 9 harbor workers of seven ports of Portugal went on a strike demanding stable jobs. As a result of serious joblessness, an increasing number of people are forced to live below the poverty line. According to a survey of the Census Bureau of the U.S., the number of the poverty-stricken people reached 49.1 million across the country till the end of last year. In Greece the number of such people reached more than 2.2 million. The same is the case with other capitalist countries. Over 4.4 million toiling people in Spain and 2.78 million in Germany saw out last year and greeted gloomy New Year, their right to work denied. As seen above, 2012 is a year without any hope for future for the toiling masses in the capitalist society. |
