DPRK Premier Inspects North and South Hwanghae Provinces
Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the agricultural sector of North and South Hwanghae provinces.

Visiting farms in cities and counties, including Suan and Singye counties of North Hwanghae Province and Haeju City and Kangryong and Ongjin counties of South Hwanghae Province, the premier stressed that it is important to do farming well in North and South Hwanghae provinces, granaries of the country, in thoroughly implementing the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. He said that officials should take timely steps for supplying farming materials and meticulously organize the work to cope with unfavorable weather conditions in a foresighted way.

He called for giving priority to the supply in time of necessary materials and equipment and pushing ahead with the planned projects in due order and by date in line with the intention of the Party, which set it as the primary task to perfect the irrigation system in ensuring the stable development of agriculture at present, and thus making it prove effective in this year's farming.

Going round the construction site for desalting Lake Kangryong, which is of great significance in solving the water problem in South Hwanghae Province, he referred to the ways for completing the project in the quickest time possible, including the one for designing and constructing structures in a responsible manner.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue for officials in all sectors and units to render material and moral assistance to the countryside with the awareness that they are responsible for the farming, the issue for strictly meeting the scientific and technological requirements in earlier wheat and barley farming and the issue for sowing seeds in beds in the right time and in a qualitative way and bringing about substantial improvement in the farming on low-yielding fields.

Meanwhile, the premier learned about the methods of tideland reclamation, presented by various educational institutions and scientific research units, and discussed in depth the detailed matters for ensuring scientific accuracy and profitability.
