Anniversaries of Maritime Research Institutes Marked
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- The eastern and western maritime research institutes in the DPRK marked their 60th founding anniversaries.

The institutes, founded in June Juche 52 (1963), are associated with the immortal leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men who led them to fulfill their mission and role as the country's comprehensive marine scientific research bases.

With his deep insight into the importance and significance of the development of marine science in Korea bounded on its three sides by the sea, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the maritime institutes were set up to usher in a new era of marine scientific research.

Chairman Kim Jong Il gave instructions on developing the marine science, including the issues of improving the training of experts and enhancing the ability of scientists and technicians and showed great loving care for the observers.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the important task for radically improving the weather observation and forecast and put a patriotic observer couple of the maritime observatory on Jamae Islet forward to make them known to the whole country, while guiding the maritime scientific research with warm love and trust.

Over the past 60 years, the institutes have creditably discharged their mission and duty as a prestigious organ dynamically propelling the development of the country's maritime science and making a substantial contribution to the economic construction and the improvement of people's living.

Meetings took place on June 19 to mark their 60th founding anniversaries.
