President Kim Il Sung, together with premier Zhou Enlai, concluded the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance on July 11, 1961.

The leaders of the elder generation of the two countries concluded the treaty with far-sightedness, thus providing a firm legal guarantee for durably consolidating and developing the DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations.

Chairman Kim Jong Il devoted his great efforts to developing the DPRK-China friendship till the last moments of his life, firmly carrying forward the tradition of the DPRK-China friendship provided by President Kim Il Sung.

After the conclusion of the treaty, the peoples of the two countries have powerfully demonstrated their firm will to fight shoulder to shoulder, supporting and cooperating with each other in the struggle to check and frustrate the imperialists' moves for aggression and war and realize the socialist cause.

The several meetings held by Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, served as eventful occasions in putting the traditional DPRK-China friendship on a new high stage and steadily developing it as required by the new era.

It is the steadfast stand of the WPK and the DPRK government to continue to vigorously develop the DPRK-China friendly relations with socialism as its core.
