"Myth" of U.S. Air Force Disproved in Fatherland Liberation War
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War, the soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) worked a historic miracle of breaking the myth of the U.S. imperialists' "mightiness" in the air as well as on the land and in the sea.

The U.S. imperialists ignited the war of aggression and committed B-29, called an "air fortress", to the Korean front. B-29, a superheavy bomber produced for the first time in the late period of the Second World War, was not only fast in speed but also strong in attack and had never been shot down by any enemy fighters. So the U.S. imperialists advertised it as the "fortress in the sky".

The myth of the "air fortress" boasted by the U.S. imperialists was shattered by the DPRK brave pilots who grew up under the care of President Kim Il Sung.

In June Juche 39 (1950), Ri Mun Sun, a pilot of the DPRK, shot down the B-29 bomber in the sky over Seoul. On July 11, KPA pilots shot down another B-29 of the U.S. imperialists in the sky over Taejon by displaying matchless bravery.

The KPA pilots shot down twenty B-29 bombers for a week in October 1951.

Since then, the U.S. imperialists came to stop their daytime flight in the sky over Pyongyang.

In this regard, foreign military commentators described B-29 bomber as scrap iron, saying that the U.S. suffered an unprecedented defeat in the history of air combats though it had 2,800 bombers of that type.

Even MacArthur, commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East, confessed that he was disappointed over the strategic value of their air force, under such situation that their "air superiority", regarded as almighty "God", became impotent.

The miserable end, suffered in the Korean War by B-29 bombers and other air pirates of the U.S. imperialists who boasted of their "myth of air", was due punishment for the U.S. imperialist aggressors who dared to provoke the DPRK people.
