The Battle of Pochonbo is recorded as an especially significant event in the history of the Korean people's anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle as it clearly demonstrated the steadfast stand of anti-imperialist independence, consistently maintained by the Korean revolutionaries in the whole course of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, and powerfully proved the invincibility of the cause of national liberation.

The Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo was built in Hyesan City of Ryanggang Province, as the country's first monument on the theme of revolutionary traditions, with the 30th anniversary of the battle as an occasion. Since then, it has been visited by nearly ten million people including service personnel and youth and students over the past 57 years.
